Who are these fuckin’ guys?

If you thought last year was bad, just wait!  Can you name the starting lineup?  If you ever saw the beginning of Major League, then you probably understand the question, “Who are these fuckin’ guys?”  Well the same can be said for the 2009 Padres.

Jake Peavy, Chris Young, Heath Bell, and Cla Meredith are the only pitchers I can name and I can only vouch for 50%, but I’m not sure which 50% that is.  Cla, CY, and Bell are question marks in my mind because of injuries, inconsistencies, and inexperience… but I am pretty sure two of the four I mentioned will hold their own.  Beyond that… Crickets.

Our pitching staff suuuuuuuuuuucks!  Holy crap they are bad.  I could build my fantasy baseball team better than this just by using the waiver wire.  Sometimes I wonder what the Padres would look like if I had been running the team the for the past five years instead of Alderson.  We might have Chase Utley,  Stephen Drew, Jared Weaver, or Justin Verlander instead of Tommy John 1, 2, 3, and 4(BUSH THE BUST).  I can guarantee you that I would not have built the Dominican Republic baseball Academy, which by the way is being sold off for cash flow.

“Short-term, the Padres are going to be selling infrastructure – their academy in the Dominican Republic, their investments in international and domestic amateurs – and relying on reduced costs and revenue-sharing to balance a budget confronting the twin challenges of major-league lousiness and global recession.” Read More

This should be an interesting season with new ownership, but after opening day it will not be.  Break out your Padres schedule and start circling the dates when quality baseball clubs come to San Diego because the Padres will be worse than bad and if you want to watch good baseball, that is your only shot in 2009.  Hey, it could be worse… you could be in Cleveland!
