Lot’s of talk regarding Vincent Jackson… again! This is getting to be a lot like the Kardashian bullshit that San Diegans despise when it comes to our sports teams. At least he’s not bringing it on himself like Shawne Merriman did. That being said, this is getting really old. The Chargers have seriously blown it the past two years by jerking their players around and failing to sign impact free agents. Much like the Padres, the Chargers have been acquiring 2nd tier free agents or players past their prime, albeit serviceable at times, but not in the same category as a Julius Peppers. The Chargers need help with pass rush… LOTS OF HELP! I think the monks down in Tibet know that the Chargers pass rush has been a joke since Merriman stopped being a factor.

So here we are a few weeks from the free agency deadline of March 15th. The Chargers kept the Dynamic Duodenum and hinted heavily that they would be players in free agency to offset the anger towards the franchise for keeping Norv & AJ. I’m a born and raised San Diegan and actually think that could make a difference, but I’m a born and raised San Diegan and KNOW that it won’t make a difference.

So keep Jackson or let him go, the Chargers will still come out unprepared to start the game and won’t wake up until the 4th quarter so long as Norv is the coach. AJ is still the manager who did okay for a while, but doesn’t change the fact that he’s been a pompous ass since he’s been here… and is back out there saying he doesn’t like other team’s free agents and he’s interested in signing ours. Good job on Sproles with that philosophy… whatever, its not like the Bolts used him correctly regardless.

This thing has become a shit show and is pretty frustrating. Let’s just hope the Bolts sign some good players and don’t totally eviscerate themselves… AGAIN!

PS. Sign VJAX to a big deal please bc he’s a prima donna and will dog it if he doesn’t get it… That or let him go, but don’t franchise him again please… he’s a bitch!

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. Holy crap!

It is truly amazing and baffling at the same time. Glimpses of greatness and potential only to be marred by folly and disaster. I don’t know if San Diego teams are cursed or not, but I do know this Chargers team under AJ Smith created its fair share of bad luck.

The first step may have been firing a 14-2 head coach. It did not help the team to pass on players like Troy Polamalu, Clay Matthews, Michael Oher, and on and on we could go. Smith could have traded Brees and got something of value in return with Rivers waiting in the wings, but he chose not to. Darren Sproles is now on his way to the playoffs because Smith did not feel he was worth keeping… and under Norv Turner, maybe he wasn’t. Sean Payton has found plenty of ways to use him. Did I mention he caught Drew Brees’ pass to set the all time single season passing record on Monday Night football this week? Just a little more sand in San Diegans’ eyes. Thanks AJ! This combined with other terrible moves like trading away top round draft picks for players that make little to no impact in games… like Jacob Hester(Sorry Jake). AJ Smith does this year in and year out and the team is depleted in depth and skill as a result. Christ, how did we let Wes Welker go? How do we have two 1st round cornerbacks and one 2nd round cornerback drafted and only one interception at that position? That’s not good and you can almost guarantee the D-Coordinator will be fired also.

Some people in town have been arguing that we need to keep AJ Smith because he resurrected the franchise. I think Marty Schottenheimer was more responsible for that along with the people Butler had in place. AJ Smith got lucky with the Eli Manning snafu, but ultimately San Diego was the unlucky one because we lost Brees and essentially got the most un-clutch kicker of all time, a pre-madonna-steroid dosing linebacker who distracted everyone from football, and Luis “IR” Castillo essentially. Well, them and Rivers. I’d still rather have Brees and none of those players! We would probably have a championship by now. But noooooo, AJ Smith had to play Trader Jack.

Norv Turner! Are you fucking serious AJ? Norv Turner!? You need to be fired 5 years ago for making this hire. Every San Diegan knew it would end like this. Nothing to show and a team worse off. Why? Because we could use the internet and see what he did for the Raiders and Redskins. I realize we were bad and AJ gets a lot of credit for building the team back. We went to the playoffs like 6 times when the division was horrible. Let’s not got holier than thou and pretend AJ built a dynasty here. He built an excruciatingly painful product to watch during those playoff runs that never even amounted to a Super Bowl appearance. Fuck winning, how about just getting there. Norv couldn’t even do that with arguably “the most talented team in the NFL”, according to experts year in and year out. That reeks of change needed! AJ brought in Norv and should have been tested for drugs when he did that. They both need to go and here is why.

I have heard form local writers that we should keep AJ because the Chargers are the best they have been ever. Well, wake up and stop living in the past because we are not good anymore and the talent on this team spells out below average; hence the 8-8 record we’ll end up with this year. The Falcons have surpassed the Chargers along with the Saints, the Cowboys, the Seahawks, the 49ers, and probably a few more next year unless we get someone who knows how to coach AND win(regular season and playoffs).

If we’re lucky, Rivers might have another 10 years. The Spanos’s need to move with a sense of urgency.

This combined with the fact that there was absolutely NO post game coverage, no Philip Rivers interview, no nothing. ESPN went straight in to Tebow Time analysis. ESPN might be getting bitch slapped by the NFL for the negative Lockout coverage, but then again pretty much all of the night games scheduled this year have been TERRIBLE!

I’ve been in San Diego my whole life. I’ve never seen outrage like this directed towards any of the sports franchises. If AJ didn’t act like such a pompous prick at every opportunity, he would have plenty of job security… or at least enough for another year. San Diego is not tough to figure out… Be cool, relax, get your shit done, enjoy; wash, rinse, repeat! People in San Diego just don’t like nor want to deal with Pricks. We strive for excellence and happiness! I’m sure you Boston pricks are laughing because you could give a shit about being happy or having warm fuzzy feelings… that’s what living in a hell hole does for your psyche; You do have Scoreboard though… and AGON!

I digress… AJ, don’t let the door hit you in the ass!

Judging from the phone messages and emails, you find it just as annoying as I do.
The Mexican government ads on XX Sports Radio 1090 aren’t going anywhere.

The spots, which often run three in a row and as many as 10 an hour, are part of a Mexican licensing agreement, according to Tex Meyer, the new vice president and general manager at 1090.

And while the 1090 studios are in San Diego, the broadcast towers for the 77,500-watt station are in Mexico, making it a Mexican station.

As a point of education, TV and radio stations in North America are identified by their call letters. A “W” means the station is east of the Mississippi River, a “K” means it’s west of the Mississippi, a “C” means the station is in Canada, and an “X” identifies it as a Mexican station.

I understand that 1090 has to live up to its obligations with the Mexican government, and the ads are part of that obligation. What bothers me —- and apparently you, too —- are the number of spots, as well as the quality.

Some of them are professionally done and blend in well with the rest of the station’s commercials. Others are amateurish. You know the ones I mean:

“Oh, no, here comes the man from the rent.”

“Mom, here’s my savings to pay for my little brother’s doctor visit.”

“We have to be careful with these spots,” Meyer said. “We get a standardized form from Mexico. Some of the spots are open to interpretation, and some we have to run word for word. I know well the spots that annoy our listeners, but Spanish doesn’t always translate literally into English.

“People think we get paid or compensated for the spots. We don’t. We’re not greedy broadcasters. We not the only station in the U.S. with an X in front of it, but we have to live by the rules. And these spots are part of doing business.

“Trust me, we get feedback from our listeners.”

The feedback can be seen in the ratings. The ads give listeners an excuse to change the station, seek new options.

And in any business, that’s the worst scenario.
